Requirements
Accreditation by a TEPSAC-recognized organization or by TEA, at least two school years of operation, and a nationally norm-referenced test each year for participating students in grades 3-12. Virtual schools need a Texas office.
Tuition
Charge TEFA families what everyone else pays, keep your general discounts, and keep a written policy on how aid relates to tuition.
Payments
Accounts are funded 25% on July 1, 25% on October 1 and 50% on February 1. Families may prepay. Refunds go back to the account.
Pre-K providers
Licensed child care in good standing plus one quality marker: Texas Rising Star 3 stars or higher, Texas School Ready, a district partnership or recognized accreditation.
Schools not yet in the finder
Some well-known San Antonio schools, including TMI Episcopal, Keystone School and Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children, weren't in the TEFA finder when we checked. A school that qualifies can apply on the rolling application at any time, and joining lets families use $10,474, or more with an IEP, toward tuition.
