About San Antonio Edu Funding and our data

An independent guide to the money available for private, church, Catholic, homeschool and pre-K education in Greater San Antonio, built on public state and federal records.

Texas opened Education Freedom Accounts in 2026, and San Antonio families were among the first to use them. Northside ISD residents held the third-most funded accounts of any district in the state by late July. But the program is new, it ran out of money in its first year, and most families still don't know how it fits with school aid, the Archdiocese's Hope for the Future fund, military pre-K, IEP funding or the 2027 federal credit. That's what we explain.

A School Funding Advisor reviews each family's situation, puts together a funding plan, and connects the family with schools that take that funding. A private partner focused on expanding church-run and community schools supports our work. We disclose that relationship wherever it applies, and it never changes the sources we recommend.

Where the school data comes from

TEFA participation. We pulled the Texas Comptroller's TEFA participating-school finder (finder.educationfreedom.texas.gov, run by Odyssey) on October 11, 2026. We list every school and pre-K provider it shows in Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Kendall, Medina, Atascosa, Wilson and Bandera counties, with the features, discounts and descriptions each school reported. A school in the finder is accredited by a TEPSAC-recognized body or TEA, has operated at least two years, and tests students every year.

Federal school records. We added the U.S. Department of Education's Private School Survey public-use files: 2023-24, plus 2021-22 for schools that didn't respond in 2023-24. They give each school's enrollment, teachers, religious orientation and association memberships. They also catch established schools that aren't in TEFA yet. 69 of our K-12 schools appear in both sources, and 29 appear only in the federal survey.

Which schools get a full page. A school gets its own page only when the public records give enough to say something useful: federal enrollment and staffing data, or a TEFA listing with a real description or program details. The other schools are still in the directory tables. Schools can claim their listing to add more.

Funding figures. The 2026-27 amounts, approved uses and pre-K criteria come from educationfreedom.texas.gov. Funded-student counts come from the TEFA Annual Demographic Report (data as of July 29, 2026), and IEP amounts from the Comptroller's 2026-27 Special Education Funding Table. Archdiocese of San Antonio figures are from the Archdiocese's TEFA pages and Axios San Antonio reporting. Neither public source reports tuition.

Texas has no state registry of private schools. If a school is missing, tell us and we'll check it and add it.

San Antonio Edu Funding is a project of Boss Leads. We are not a school, the Texas Comptroller, Odyssey, the Archdiocese of San Antonio, or a government agency.
