K-8: TEFA usually covers it
Axios San Antonio reported in March 2026 that the $10,474 award was expected to cover full tuition for most K-8 students at Archdiocese schools, and most but not all of it at the high school level.
High school
Central Catholic, Antonian, Incarnate Word, Providence, St. Anthony Catholic and St. John Paul II all appear in the state finder. TEFA pays the same amount in grade 9 as in grade 1, so there is usually a gap. School aid and leftover account funds from earlier years can help.
Hope for the Future
The Archdiocese's tuition assistance fund is reserved for families who don't receive TEFA. Applications have opened December 1, with awards in the spring.
Capacity
The Archdiocese said it has no system-wide cap tied to TEFA. Each campus admits students based on its own classroom space and staffing, and some grades filled early in year one. Apply to the school as early as you apply to TEFA.
